Were you a part of the BIG Day of Giving last year?  If so, you made history in our region by donating to the nonprofit sector.   Together we garnered over $3M as a region and ranked #2 in the country on that national giving day!

Well, this year we want you back in a bigger way!  Our region’s collective goal for the nonprofit sector will be $5M in 24 hours from 25,000 donors for 500 nonprofits, and to end the day by being the 1st in the nation for most money raised on May 5th, this year’s national giving day!

GiveLocalNow, under the leadership of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, Placer Community Foundation, and Yolo Community Foundation, along with many partners, is gearing up for the region’s 2nd annual BIG Day of Giving benefiting the region’s nonprofit sector, a 24-hour giving challenge, that will launch at midnight on May 5th. El Dorado Community Health Center is part of this 24-hour giving challenge.

What is our goal this year? Please join our campaign and help us reach of our goal of $12,500 and 500 donors!  Tell your friends about our important work and to join you in helping to make a difference in your community.  In addition, we hope to gain additional dollars by competing for incentive prizes.  Stay tuned for more information from us about how you can help us earn additional prize money!

How can you give? On May 5th, starting at 12:00am midnight, visit www.bigdayofgiving.org and make a gift as little as $25 to us or to any of the 500+ participating nonprofit organizations in our region including the El Dorado Community Health Center and our local Food Bank of El Dorado or 14 other El Dorado County organizations who are participating this year. You will have 24 hours to make your donation, and all giving will end at 11:59pm on May 5th.   All of your donations go even further by a prorated incentive pool of dollars!

How else can I help? Online giving challenges like these are successful because of our own networks. Please pay it forward by sending this email to your network and ask your friends to do the same. Use your social media networks and post on Facebook, tweet that you gave, share your love for your particular passion, whether it’s housing people, education, health care, animals, or the arts, and ask others to do the same. Like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for updated event locations and challenges or visit our webpage during the month of April to stay updated.

Why is your donation important? Each donation is matched on a prorated basis, making every gift go farther. Challenge prizes are also available for nonprofits to win, allowing them to earn even more.

What do I get in return? As a nonprofit donor, you get the first-hand experience of further advancing the opportunity for others to learn, to thrive, or to celebrate community life in a real and tangible way. All donations are tax-deductible. A number of participating businesses in our region want to thank you with a special gift for making your donation.   When you donate, your acknowledgment email will have a live link to a BIG Day of Giving Thank You Virtual Goody Bag, good for up to one week after May 5th, depending on the vendor.    All you have to do is show them your email receipt of your donation!

What’s remarkable about May 5th? Together as a region, we are coming together to celebrate the nonprofit sector.  Our collective impact will help us beat last year’s goal and only together can we be the

 # 1 giving region in the country!  So, please join us to:

·         Raise $5 Million

·         Engage 25000 donors, with 30% of new donors giving to the nonprofit for the first time

·         Enlist 500 nonprofits to participate

·         Provide $500,000 in incentive pool prorated dollars and prize money

We will also use the region’s first nonprofit database, GivingEdge, which represents a key resource for nonprofits, funders, and donors. It is co-branded with GuideStar, the nation’s largest and trusted resource for nonprofit information, and currently holds vetted information for over 500 of our region’s nonprofits. Donors on the BIG Day of Giving can read more about each nonprofit, if they choose to.  Together, we can make a difference in the health of our community!!
